Richard Wright of Seffner, FL passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019 to
be present with the Lord. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday,
July 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Mary M. B. Church, 3901 N. 37th Street
with Elder James R. Reed, Jr., Pastor, officiating, Interment will
follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Elder Wright was a native of Phenix City, Alabama, born to the late
Bessie B. Wright and the late Booker T. Harris. He was educated in the
Muscogee County school system, Columbus, GA where he graduated from
George Washington Carver High School in 1964.
After high school, he joined the Air Force and was assigned at MacDill
AFB, FL. In 1965, Airman Third Class Wright met Willianna Elizabeth
Morris and later married her. From that union came three daughters and
a son, Gwendella, Richelle, Monica and Daryl.
Master Sergeant Wright was a spiritual leader, unswerving provider and
devoted to his wife and children. While still in the Air Force, he added
to the family another daughter, Senior Airman Tajuana Brown.
In 1986, after 22 years of dedicated duty to the United States Air
Force, he retired from military service and moved his family to Tampa.
It was then that he joined Grace Mary Missionary Baptist Church, and was
a faithful member until his death.
After retiring from the Air Force, Richard joined the United States
Postal Service where he worked until his retirement in June 2019.
He was preceded in death by ins his beloved wife, Willianna and son,
Daryl. He leaves to celebrate and cherish memories of him: four
daughters, Gwendella (Ferris) Pugh, Richelle Wright (MSgt, USAF (Ret.)),
Monica (John) McCoy, Tajuana Brown; four grandchildren, Ceddric Moses,
Lianichella Wright, Katera McCoy, Darius Pugh; two great-grandchildren,
Landon Petty, Alivia Petty; two brothers, Carlton (Jackie) Murray, John
(Shirley) Harris, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives,
godchildren, friends and Grace Mary Missionary Baptist Church family.
The remains will repose and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8
p.m. Friday, July 12 at Grace Mary M. B. Church.
