C. Coleman, Jr. 91, of Tampa, departed this earthly life to be with
his heavenly father on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Funeral services will
be conducted Saturday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m. at College Hill Church of
God In Christ, 6414 N. 30th St. with Superintendant Charles Davis,
Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held Monday, March 18 at 11 a.m.
at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
He was a native of Coleman, FL born to Reverend David C. Coleman, Sr.
and Alice Mae Longworth Coleman and was the oldest of 15 siblings. He
served in the U.S. Military, and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Coleman retired from the Hillsborough County School System in 1985.
He was a faithful member of College Hill COGIC and he loved God and his
church family and spoke often of their fellowship.
Mr. Coleman leaves a family of loved ones: his devoted wife, Edna
Coleman; children, Larry Coleman, Sr., Rev. David C. Coleman III
(Dorothy), Ida Coleman, Ronald Coleman (Jacqueline), Linda Davis
(Michael), Johnny Smith, Theresa Warner, Emlis Mickens (Rev. Joseph),
Peter Smith, Elvis Smith, Anita Jordan, and Tony Bell; sisters, Elder
Alice Mae Diggs, and Ella Thompson (Doyle); brothers, Alonzo Coleman
(Mary), Leonard Coleman (Johnny Mae), Harry Coleman, and Ulysses
Coleman; special sister-in-law, Mattie Ford; sisters-in-law, Fannie
Coleman, Queen Ester, and Coma Coleman; brother-in-law, Eddie (Sonny)
Phillips; grandchildren, Phaedra Johnson (Donald), David C. Coleman IV,
Larry Coleman, Jr. (Gwen), Gregory Coleman, Christopher Coleman, Ronald
Coleman, Jr., Marcus Orr, Mandel Jordan, Johnell (Rufus) Johnson, Joseph
(Tara) Mickens, Imani Mickens, Tamika, Tyra and Tia Hepburn, James
Johnson, Jr., Rodney Johnson, Frederic Johnson, Jacqueline Johnson, and
Eric (Alicia) Johnson; Great grandchildren, Donald Johnson, Jr.,
Jeremiah Johnson, David C. Coleman, V, Gregory Coleman, Jr., Essence
Coleman, Larry Coleman, Jr., Jasmine Coleman, Johnathan and Riley Smith
along with a very devoted nephew, Kent (Gail) Coleman; a special niece,
Veronica McCrea; a special god daughter, Mishondra (Meme); Kelly Bryant,
his traveling barber and a host of other relatives and friends, who
loved him dearly.
Preceding him in death were his wives, Fannie Phillips-Coleman and
Patricia Pierce-Coleman; son, Rudolph C. Coleman; sisters, Vera, Edna
and Oretha; brothers, Jack, Clinton, Lawrence, Wilbur Lee and Willie D.
Coleman; brothers-in-law, Arzell Diggs, Willie Ford, Tyrone Cobb and
David Phillips; sisters-in-law, Jean Phillips and Naomi Phillips.
Public visitation will be held Friday, March 15 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Ray
Williams Funeral Home, 301 N Howard Avenue and the family will be
present from 6-7pm.
