Betty Lee Kinsey of Tampa, FL, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive AME Church, 1902 W. LaSalle Street, Tampa, FL 33607 with Rev. Gregory V. Gay, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
Mrs. Kinsey was born on September 23, 1940, in Tallahassee, FL. She graduated from Florida A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in library science and elementary education. Betty was employed by the School District of Hillsborough County as a librarian and a teacher for 47 years. She was affiliated with many organizations including The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., The Charmettes, Inc., and the Red Hatters.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Bob Lee; her mother, Larcenia Broxton; her stepfather, Herman Broxton, Sr.; her husband, Randolph Kinsey, Jr.; and her mother and father-in- law, Rebecca and Randolph Kinsey, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, Michael (Carolyn) Kinsey and Tarence Kinsey of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, LaKisha M. (LaPlace III) Kinsey-Sallis of Tampa, FL, Tarji Kinsey of Atlanta, GA, Martel (Aria) Kinsey, Michael Kinsey, Jr. of Ft. Hood, TX, Tarence Kinsey Jr., Nikita Kinsey, Shakira Butler (Alan), and Tarrah Kinsey of Tampa, FL; great-grandchildren, LaPlace Sallis IV, Langston Sallis, Parker Kinsey, Shakaiah Kinsey, Dionni Poole, Tyreik Kinsey, Malia Kinsey, Michael Kinsey III, Mariah Kinsey, Isaiah Kinsey, Aaliyah Kinsey, and Summer Butler; brothers, Herman Broxton, Jr., of Tampa, FL, and Kirk (Geneva) Broxton of Atlanta, GA; sisters-in-law, Marina Broxton of Lake City, Emily Broxton of Ft. Pierce, FL, Pauline Kinsey Glymph, Ellen Kinsey, and Jacquelyn Kinsey Dennis of Tampa, FL; brothers-in-law, Samuel (Alma) Kinsey, Herbert Kinsey, and Joseph Kinsey of Tampa, FL; loved ones, Mary Lou Bruce and Sophia Kinsey; and a host of other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive AME Church, 1902 W. Lasalle Street, Tampa, FL 33607.
