Mrs. Ella Nora Gethers Cusseaux of Tampa, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 2, at 10:00 a.m., at Mt Tabor M. B. Church, 2606 W. Grace St., with Pastor T. D. Leonard, officiating.  Entombment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Mrs. Ella, "EN" Cusseaux was a native of Jacksonville, FL and a resident of Tampa for 81 years. She was a graduate of Don Thompson High School, Class of 1949. 

Ella furthered her education at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, FL, graduating from Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, FL and earning her Master's Degree in education at the University of Tampa.  

The first years of Ella's professional life were spent as a classroom teacher in Manatee and Hillsborough Counties. She later became a School Social Worker for Hillsborough County Schools, retiring after 25 years of service, to later become Coordinator for Adult literacy at Hillsborough Community College.  

As a faithful member of Mt. Tabor M. B. Church for more than 50 years, Ella was the former chair of the Welcome Ministry and Third Generation.

She was a dedicated Life Member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, Beta Sigma Zeta Chapter, FAMU Alumni Association; and Charter and Life Member of Charmette's of Hillsborough County.  Her deep sense of and commitment to community netted her numerous accolades and awards for years of service from various organizations in the Tampa Bay Area.  

Ella is preceded in death by: her loving parents, Benjamin and Carrie Gethers; siblings, Emanuel Gethers, Eunice Vanes, Mildred McBride and Rutha Lemons; and son, Ronald Cusseaux.

Cherishing her memory are: her nephew and nieces, James & Catherine Lemons and F. Michelle Lemons, M. D.; grandnephews and nieces, Anthony Johnson, Sharon Johnson, Erica Johnson, Zandell & Carla Johnson, Angela Walker, Charles & Deidra Johnson, Jamel Johnson, Emanuel Johnson, James Lemons, II, Maurice Lemons, Khari & Arcenio Cayetano, and Launi Lemons; and a host of great-grand/great-great grand nephews and nieces of the Walker, Cayetano, Cusseaux, Mount, Palmer, and Powell families; cousins; and friends.  

The remains will repose after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.
