Wesley Shuler, Sr. of Tampa passed away quietly Friday, November 17,
2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital, surrounded by his children.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 25 at 11 a.m. at
Mount Olive A. M. E. Church, 1902 W. LaSalle Street with Reverend Greg
Gay, Pastor and eulogist; assisted by, Pastor Byron Wells, Reverend
Karen Sims. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Wesley Shuler was a native of Patlaka, FL, a former resident of
Georgia and a resident of Tampa for 67 years. Wesley worked for
Banana Trading Company and retired from Publix Warehouse in 1989.
He was a very devoted member of Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church under the
leadership of Reverend Greg Gay, where he was avid for being a committed
Usher ("Door-keeper in the House of the Lord").
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Alto and Ethel Shuler;
brothers, Irving Shuler, Remus Shuler, Robert Shuler, Earl Shuler,
Alfred Shuler, Leonard Shuler, George Shuler and Mike Shuler; sisters,
Mildred Shuler Ross, Marguerite Shuler Patterson, Willie Mae Shuler
Jones, Margarie Shuler, Ruby Mae Shuler Howard, Mary Jean Shuler and
Gladys Shuler; daughter-in-law, Ruth Shuler.
Wesley leaves to cherish his memory: children, sons, John Wesley Shuler
I, Lovond Shuler, Robert Lee Shuler and Wesley Shuler, Jr. (Lori); 1
daughter, Mary Shuler London (Winston, I); grandchildren, Deneen Shuler
Anderson (Bobby), Shalon Shuler, Germaine Shuler, John Demetrius Shuler
(Tamara), Michelle Shuler, John Wesley Shuler II (Alfie), Shelly Gainous
Jr., (Tonya), Tanjar Shuler, Shontae London Hill (Alvin), Winston
London, II, Lovonda Shuler, Robert Shuler, Jr., Angie, Kristen,
Christina Spangler, and Heather Elswick; 34 great grandchildren; 14
great great grandchildren; like a daughter, Carol Swift Maxwell;
siblings, Roosevelt Shuler (Connie), Alto Shuler, Jr., M. C. Shuler, Sr.
(Leola), Irene Shuler Green (Benjamin), Sammy Shuler, Bessie Shuler,
James Shuler, Memee Shuler and Jerome Shuler; devoted nephews and
nieces, Leroy Sims (Karen), Lillie Mae Shuler Williams, Rhunetta Johnson
(Herman), Earl Jones, (Sheree), Gerald Jones (Candi), Tommy Jones
(Cynthia), Carol Jones (James), Sharon Jones, and Adell Jordan; and a
host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, caretakers
and friends, Joyce and Joan.
The remains will repose from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 24 at Mount
Olive A.M.E Church.
