Steven B. Wilson, AKA ”Bucky”, of Tampa passed away Tuesday, August
1, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 12 at
11:00 a.m. at Mount Olive A. M. E. Church, 1902 LaSalle Street.
Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mr. Steven Bryan Wilson, was the fourth of six children born to Joseph
N. Wilson and Elizabeth Bryan Wilson born in Mt. Pleasant, South
Carolina. He received his early education at Laing School in Mt.
Pleasant, SC. While there, he excelled in athletics and played both
basketball and baseball.
Upon graduating in May 1951, he enlisted in the United States Air Force
for 21 years and retired in 1972 as a Technical Sergeant. During that
time, Steven was joined in holy matrimony to the late Willa Mae Bryce in
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Augustine and Althea;
brother, Joseph Jr.; wife, Willa Mae Bryce; and two children, Mildred
Alethea and Cassie Mae.
He furthered his education at Hillsborough Community College and upon
graduation, he worked over 20 years there as an Air Conditioning and
Mr. Wilson converted at an early age at Friendship AME Church in Mt.
Pleasant, SC under the pastorate of the late Rev. W. T. Murray. In
1972, he joined Mt. Olive AME Church in Tampa under the leadership of
the late Rev. Milton Rutledge where he served faithfully in many

Consistory #147, and Harrah Temple #23, all in Tampa, FL.
Steven leaves to cherish and honor his memory: 3 devoted and loving
sons, Steven Bryan Jr., Milton Leon, and Leandro C. (Joanne) of Seattle,
WA; grandchildren, Bryan L. (Tiffany), Imani, Bruce, Christian and Amanda;
great-grandchildren, Bryan, Jr., Bryce, and Brylen; his sister, Sadie
White, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and brother, Samuel L. Wilson of Atlanta,
GA, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves
behind his special friend, Mattie Lampkin.
The remains will repose after 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 11 at Ray
Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue and the family will receive
friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Chapel.
