Joann Reid Jones of Tampa passed away Monday, September 2, 2019.
Homegoing services will be conducted Saturday, September 14 at 1:00 p.m.
at Exciting Faith Alive, 5705 E. 32nd Street, Tampa, FL 33619, with
Pastor Antonio R. Hawkins, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest
Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ms. Joann Reid Jones was a native of Vero Beach, Florida and moved to
Tampa, FL at a young age where she was educated in the public schools of
She was employed as a School Bus Driver for the School District of
Hillsborough County Transportation Department for over 30 years. Joann
also worked as a Pool Director with the City of Tampa, Parks and
Recreation Department, Martin Luther King Jr. Complex and several other
pools for many years.
Joann had a great love for children and she touch the lives of many. In
1994, Joann relocated to Atlanta, GA where she worked with the Dekalb
County, Head Start Program and also worked as a Bus Driver for many
years. May 2018, Joann moved back to Tampa, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her: grandparents, Willie and Carrie
Gibson; mother, Catherine Jones; sister, Betty Orr; best friend like a
sister, Shirley Ann White; brother, Ruben Jones and Mack Jones;
daughter, Lillian D. Jones; grandchildren, Brianna Jones and Kendrick
Denson; and great nephew, Damon Larry.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Retronda Jones, Dorinda
Jones-Donaldson (Charles) and Clarrissa Jones; son, Freddie Jones, Jr.
(Candy); grandchildren, Sakendra Jones (Robert), Theodore Jones, Antonio
Jones, Brittish Jones (Mya), Brittany Williams, Brian Jones, Jefferson
Davis, III, Arianna Jones, Alexander Burney, Kymora Collins, Jermaine
Wimberly and Shaniqua Edwards; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Helen
Ruth Taylor; brothers, Bobby Jones and James Jones; a host of nieces and
nephews, other sorrowing relatives and friends; special friends, Linda
Walker-Windom (Johnny), Rena Young, Linda Shannon and family, Whitflow
and family, Carla Smith and Mike Bell.
The remains will repose after 5 p.m. Friday, September 13 at Ray
Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.
