Minister Durell S. Brown of Tampa passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018.  Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 15 a 1:00 p.m. at Word of Grace and Truth Ministries, 3001 E. Hanna Ave., Dr. Thomas Dozier, Pastor, with Pastor Millie Stephenson, officiating and Pastor Vincent Campbell, eulogist. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Minister Durell S. Brown was a native of the beautiful island of New Providence, Bahamas and a resident of Tampa, FL for many years. 

Durell was Christened at Grants Town Wesley Methodist Church. He received his early education at Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School, Nassau Christian Academy School, CI Gibson Junior High School and R M Bailey Senior High School. 

Durell furthered his education in the USA by attending Tampa University where he earned a Bachelor’s and Master Degrees in Accounting with honors.  Durell was a Pastor and loved to mentor people. He worked in the hospitality industry, particularly at major hotel chains, most of his adult life.   

He was preceded in death by: his father Lionel Brown and Godfather, Thomas Ferguson. 

Left to celebrate the life of a Christian man are: wife, Darlene Brown; daughter, Amani Brown; mother, Naomi Brown; brothers, Brockholst, Garret, McCoy, Jason and Don Brown, all of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; adopted brothers, Mark A. Turnquest and Nataniel Moss; sisters, Shanla Cleare, Vanessa Brown and Mona Brown; uncle, Maxwell Browm; aunts, Eddison (Eddy) Francis, Iris Smith, Clara Evans, Subleecka Thompson, Sonia Challow and Ella Johnson; nephews, Giovianni Brown, Taimak & Deangelo Cleare, Garvin Adderley and Jason Brown Jr.; nieces, Garinique Brown, Shenique Cleare, K’ leigha Strachan and Carlena Canion; brother-in-law, Carl Canion; sisters-in-law, Glenda Brown, Renetta Larry (Mark) and Tamara Hightower; and a host of dear cousins; Godmother, Clara Evans; Godbrother, Tommy Williams; and other relatives and friends.   

The remains will repose after 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 14 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.
