Retha "Retia" Durant Williams of Tampa passed away, Sunday, June 9,
2019. Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, June 22 at 2p.m. at
Tabernacle of Hope, 6907 N. Nebraska Avenue with Pastor Kenneth Stewart,
officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park
Mrs. Durant Williams was a native and lifelong resident of Tampa,
Florida and was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County.
She was a faithful member of Tabernacle of Hope, where she was the first
member, joining October 8, 2006 and she served faithfully until her
demise. She served as Head of Transportation and Benevolence
Department, taught in the Children's Ministry, served in the
Hospitality, Food Pantry, Meals of Hope and Greeter's Ministries.
Mrs. Retha loved her pastor and first lady and she was always ready to
serve wherever she was asked to serve. She was filled with the
Holy-Ghost and the light of Jesus Christ shined through her smile,
kind-heart and salvation conversation.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Evangelist "Mother"
Ethel Wilson and Essau Durant.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, James Williams,
Tampa, FL; daughter, Ebony Crawford; stepchildren, Renee Williams-Cox,
James Williams and wife Tomekia, Stephen Williams and wife Magnolia,
Kontisha Williams and Amara Williams; grandchildren whom she raised,
Trutesha Crawford, Jenea Crawford, Omarion Durant, and Erika Dula; a
host of other grandchildren; God daughter, Ashley; sisters, Evangelist
Gloria Durant, Evangelist Early Hicks and husband Minister Terry Hicks,
Sr., Suzette Lee and husband Norman, Brenda Durant, Marion Durant;
brothers, Emmitt Wilson and wife Francis, Eddie Durant and wife Teresa,
Earl John Smith, Alfair Durant, Essau Durant, Jr. and wife, Viendaree,
Michael Moss, Tony Durant, and Darrel Durant and wife Aretha;
sisters-in-law, Gwen Wilson and Sharmanetta Durant; uncles, Bobby
Johnson and wife Letha, Raymond Durant, Solomon Durant and wife, Alveda;
aunts, Rutha McNeil, Maude Riles, Marie Hill and husband Minister Eddie
Hill, Melvina Walker; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives and friends.
Special thanks for the generosity shown to our family. "Retia is gone,
but will not be forgotten."
The remains will repose after 5 p.m. Friday, June 21 at Ray Williams
Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.
The church will be open at 11:00 a.m. to receive food/drinks.
